PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man is behind bars after police seized what authorities are calling one of the largest drug hauls in the history of the Peoria Police Department.
Peoria County State’s Attorney Jodi Hoos and Police Chief Bradley Dixon jointly announced today the arrest and charges against Dimoniesheo L. Alexander, 36, who faces two counts of Unlawful Possession with Intent to Deliver a Controlled Substance. A judge ordered Alexander held in custody until trial following his detention hearing.
On Wednesday, September 23, officers executed a search warrant at a home in the 3300 block of West Greenwood Place as part of an ongoing investigation into illegal drug sales. Before entering the home, officers located and arrested Alexander in the 4400 block of North Rockwood Drive.
During the search, officers recovered: approximately 820 grams of fentanyl, 198 grams of cocaine, one handgun equipped with an extended magazine, one AR-style rifle, $6,724 in cash, and drug-related equipment
The investigation remains ongoing. Additional charges are expected when the case proceeds to a grand jury next month.
