MAPLETON, Ill. – A Caterpillar worker suffered a hand injury at its Mapleton facility on Tuesday.
Peoria County Sheriff Chris Watkins says a piece of equipment reportedly fell on the male worker. He says the worker suffered non-life-threatening injuries, but may lose a finger.
A Caterpillar spokeswoman says the company’s primary concern is the well-being of the worker.
“A contractor working at our Mapleton, Illinois, facility this morning sustained an injury and was transported to a local hospital for medical treatment. Our primary concern is the well-being of the individual, and our thoughts are with them as they receive care. Nothing is more important than the safety of everyone who works at or visits our facility. We remain committed to maintaining a safe workplace and ensuring that every person goes home safely.”
