PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria woman is facing multiple charges, including Driving Under the Influence and Aggravated Reckless Driving, after a two-vehicle crash Friday night that left a man seriously injured.
Peoria Police say the accident happened near the intersection of University and McClure around 9 p.m. Officers responded to the scene a few minutes later, finding a black pickup truck and a white SUV, both with extensive damage. The pickup had rolled over before landing right-side up.
Initial information from the scene indicated both vehicles were traveling northbound on University when the SUV rear-ended the pickup truck at a high rate of speed just south of McClure.
The driver of the pickup, who was alone in the vehicle, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Six people were in the SUV: three adults and three children. They were all taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the SUV, 28-year-old Ganala Johnson, was arrested and taken to the Peoria County Jail. Charges against Johnson include: DUI, Aggravated Reckless Driving with Great Bodily Harm, Endangering the Life and Health of a Child (3 counts), and Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident, along with other traffic citations.
