PEORIA, Ill. – A Peoria man is facing multiple charges after police say he was arrested following a foot chase, and found in possession of a stolen, loaded gun on Tuesday.
Peoria Police say the incident happened just before 11:00 a.m., when officers were sent to N. Braves Court on a report of a male suspect possibly armed with a handgun.
PPD Spokesperson Semone Roth says officers found a man, identified as 21-year-old Leonard Heady, running from the area on foot.
A brief pursuit ensued, during which officers saw Heady toss a gun under a tree. He was apprehended without incident. PPD says the recovered firearm was loaded and reported as stolen.
Heady was arrested and taken to the Peoria County Jail on charges of:
- Possession of a Stolen Firearm
- Unlawful Possession of a Weapon
- Resisting/Obstructing a Peace Officer
- Possession of a Firearm Without a Valid FOID Card
