PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Public Schools’ Board of Education has chosen two finalists for the superintendent’s job. Those finalists will meet with the public at two town hall meetings in January.
PPS says the district will not identify the candidates for the job until the town hall meetings.
One candidate will be at the first town hall on Tuesday, January 6, and the other will be at the town hall on Wednesday, January 7. Both meetings will take place at the PPS Administration Building at 3202 N. Wisconsin Avenue from 5:30-6:30 p.m.
In August, the board hired From the Heart International Education Services to help search for Superintendent Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat’s replacement. She will retire from PPS at the end of this school year when her contract expires.
Peoria Public Schools says the search firm received applications from 14 individuals. Of the 14, six were not qualified for the position.
The PPS board was given a list of the top four candidates for the superintendent position on December 11.
Three candidates were interviewed. Two were invited to visit PPS. The two finalists will have a second interview with the school board in addition to taking part in the town hall meetings.
