EUREKA, Ill. – The baby didn’t want to wait for the hospital.
25 News reports a baby boy was delivered on Interstate 74 in Woodford County Tuesday, as the family was on the way to the hospital for the more standard arrival.
“Unlike having hospital staff with multiple providers, specialty teams for whatever issue may be coming along, it’s just two of us,” said Scott Rossman, paramedic, Eureka-Goodfield Fire Protection District. “Whatever comes along, we have to be prepared at all times.”
Rossman and fellow paramedic LeeAnn Syck made the delivery. It apparently didn’t take long for the baby to arrive once the paramedics did.
Everyone is said to be doing fine. The baby is said to be the family’s fourth.
“Obviously, an imminent birth is a little more nerve-racking. You never know what you’re walking in to,” said Rossman.
