ROME, Ill. — Peoria County deputies responded to a three vehicle crash just after 5:30 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Rt. 29 and Cambron Avenue in Rome.
A vehicle on Cambron was making a left turn onto northbound Rt. 29 when it was struck by a southbound vehicle, according to the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office. Then both vehicles were struck by a third vehicle, also traveling south.
Two occupants were transported to a hospital with what were believed to be non-life-threatening injuries.
One of the drivers, an 85-year-old Lacon woman, was conscious and alert at the scene, but later died at UnityPoint Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
The Peoria County Coroner’s Office is expected to release further information Wednesday.
The crash remains under investigation.
