SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — For the third time in a week, Illinois’s 24-hour COVID-19 case count set a record.
Illinois Department of Public Health said 15,415 people between Thursday and Friday received positive test results.
The record was last with Tuesday’s 12,657.
27 deaths related to the virus during that time were reported.
The state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate jumped over a half-percentage point, to 13.2%. 106,540 people were tested during the reporting period for the virus.
5,362 people as of Thursday night were actively hospitalized COVID cases. 990 of them were in intensive care, while 488 required the assistance of ventilators.
