PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria City/County Health Department Thursday reported two new deaths from COVID-19, both females who resided at Heritage Health in Chillicothe.
One female was in her 80s, while the other was in her 90s.
In addition, Peoria County added seven deaths that occurred at earlier dates after the health department updated total counts to reflect cases that fit the COVID-19 criteria. Those deaths, including dates, are as follows:
- Female 90s, Resident of University Rehab, Date of Death (DOD): 07/15/20
- Female 80s, Resident of Grandview Alzheimer’s, DOD: 07/22/20
- Male 80s, Not a resident of a long term care facility, DOD: 07/25/20
- Female 90s, Resident of Grandview Alzheimer’s, DOD: 08/20/20
- Male 90s, Not a resident of a long term care facility, DOD: 09/01/20
- Male 80s, Resident of Generations Peoria, DOD: 10/21/20
- Female 80s, Not a resident of a long term care facility, DOD: 10/22/20
After the addition of these deaths and the two reported Thursday, Peoria County has had 83 since the pandemic began.
The tri-county as a whole reported Thursday 231 new cases of COVID-19. Peoria County accounted for 97, Tazewell County accounted for 105, and Woodford County accounted for 29.
The area as a whole has reported a total of 9,652 cases since the beginning of the pandemic, including 163 deaths.
119 people are in local hospitals with the virus. Of those, 31 are in the ICU.
Region 2’s rolling seven-day positivity rate, which must go below 6.5% for three consecutive days to be removed from mitigations, is now at 10.4%.
