PEORIA, Ill. — A school bus was involved in an accident Monday morning with a pedestrian on a motorized bike at the intersection of William Kumpf Blvd. and Romeo B. Garrett Ave.
The accident occurred just before 7:30 a.m., and Public Information Officer Amy Dotson reported that 10 students were on board the bus at the time.
Dotson added that the preliminary investigation showed the school bus was attempting to make a turn from Kumpf Blvd. onto Romeo B. Garrett Ave.
The bike was on the sidewalk attempting to cross Romeo B. Garrett Ave. when the bus and bike collided, according to Dotson.
After the accident, the rider of the bike was entrapped under the bus.
The rider was a 31-year-old male, who was then transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Neither the driver of the school bus nor any children on the bus were injured.
An investigation is ongoing.
