SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois’ Region 2, which includes the tri-county area, could be one day from mitigation for COVID-19.
The Illinois Department of Public Health is monitoring key indicators that identify significant increases of COVID-19 transmission in th region, potentially signifying a resurgence of COVID-19.
If indicators show an increase in the virus, along with a decrease in hospital capacity or three consecutive days of an 8% positivity rate or higher, mitigation may be necessary.
Sunday is the second consecutive day in Region 2 that the seven-day rolling positivity rate has been 8% or higher.
Saturday’s positivity rate in Region 2 was 8.9%.
On Sunday, the Illinois Department of Public Health will report the positivity rate for October 28th, and if mitigation will follow in Region 2.
