SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Coronavirus cases for the second day in a row in Illinois have hit a 24-hour high.
Illinois Department of Public Health said 4,554 people between Thursday and Friday tested positive for the virus.
38 deaths were recorded in that period.
Labs throughout the state collected 87,759 specimens, including antigen tests, and the rolling seven-day positivity rate hit 5.1%.
2,016 hospital beds as of Thursday night were being occupied in Illinois by patients with coronavirus or with suspected cases of it.
410 of those patients were in intensive care. 151 required the use of a ventilator.
