PEORIA, Ill. — Woodford County’s COVID-related death count has reached double digits.
Peoria City/County Health Department reported two females between Wednesday and Thursday died from complications related to the virus.
One was in her 60s and did not live in long-term care. The other was in her 90s and lived at Heritage Health in El Paso, making it the second death this week at that facility.
The two deaths brought Woodford’s total to 11 since the start of the pandemic. Including numbers Peoria’s 52 and Tazewell’s 44, the tri-county total rose to 107.
Overall, 109 positive test results were reported.
Woodford reported the highest amount, with 41, but the health department said that was because of backlog. Peoria’s 24-hour total was 35, while Tazewell’s was 33.
69 area residents were hospitalized as of Thursday afternoon with the virus or suspected cases of the virus. 24 of them were in intensive care.
The area’s recovery rate stayed just about 85%.
