PEORIA COUNTY, Ill. — Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell confirms that more bones have been found near Glasford, not far from Banner Marsh.
Asbell told WMBD News, the bones were found about 5:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 13000 block of Wheeler Road, along the Illinois River.
“All evidence supports this is a sole source. Meaning we believe they’re from the original source that we collected. But, we can’t confirm that until we get a DNA comparison,” Asbell said.
Peoria Fire Department dive teams were searching the area Thursday to see if there are more bones underwater.
“The river has significantly went down since we did our last search. About five feet down from where we previously searched, but they want to hit that area again,” Asbell said.
DNA testing could take up to two months to complete, according to Asbell.
