PEORIA, Ill. — A 17-year-old male has been cited by Peoria Police for two violations in regards to a hit-and-run that left an 11-year-old with serious injuries.
The teen appeared at the Peoria Police Department and was charged Wednesday with failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle.
Because he is a juvenile, his identity will not be released.
The Oct. 1 incident occurred in broad daylight in the area of Knoxville and Corrington.
The adolescent was treated at a local hospital with injuries not deemed to be life-threatening.
The Peoria County State’s Attorney’s Office has taken over the investigation.
