SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Close to 50,000 people throughout Illinois between Monday and Tuesday were tested for coronavirus.
Illinois Department of Public Health said 49,513 specimens were collected as 1,617 tests came back positive for COVID-19.
32 deaths were recorded during that time.
The state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate sat at 3.4%.
1,673 people as of Monday night were occupying hospital beds with the virus or suspected cases of the virus. 384 of them were in intensive care.
159 ventilators were in use for the virus.
