FARMINGTON, Ill. – A longtime staple made in Fulton County will not be made there any more.
The parent company of Kitchen Cooked Potato Chips says the chips will not be made in Farmington any longer, but will move to other Utz facilities.
However, a spokesperson for Utz Snacks tells WMBD by e-mail the plant in Farmington will be transitioned to a “full-scale sales distribution center” for Utz’s various snack brands.
The spokesperson says current employees of the plant are being offered jobs with the sales distribution facility, and those that opt not to take jobs will be offered severance and other benefits.
The move comes on the heels of recently-announced news that Pennsylvania-based Utz has opened a new plant in North Carolina that the company said at the time will support continued growth.
Utz purchased the Kitchen Cooked brand at the end of 2019.
