PEORIA, Ill. — One weekend after five tri-county residents died from COVID-19, the virus has claimed the lives of six area people.
The Peoria City/County Health Department on Monday reported all six who passed away over the weekend lived in Tazewell County. One of them, a female in her 80s, did not live in long-term care.
The other five, however, were all in their 90s and were residents of different long-term care facilities.
Two were females. One lived at Villas of Hollybrook in Pekin, while the other resided at Generations at Riverview in East Peoria.
One of the males who died lived at Reflections Memory Care in Washington. Another lived at Timber Creek in Pekin, while the other resided at Aperion Morton Villa.
The health department did not say whether any of the people who died had comorbidities.
Overall, 172 tri-county residents tested positive for the virus over the weekend. 89 of them were Peoria County residents, 69 were Tazewell residents, and 14 were Tazewell residents.
Hospitalizations went up by one, from 54 to 55. 22 of the 55 were intensive care-level.
The area’s recovery rate went up to 79.4%.
