MORTON, Ill. — A Morton District 709 teacher, accused of having a relationship with a student, has resigned.
District 709 confirmed the resignation in a news release on Monday that said teacher Erin Kemp, a Business teacher, resigned from her duties on Thursday, September 17.
An investigation confirmed that Kemp was having a relationship with one of her students at Morton Community High School.
The school district reported the matter to the Department of Children and Family Services and to the Morton Police Department.
The news release did not specify the nature of Kemp’s relationship with the student.
Questions regarding the investigation have been referred to Morton Police.
WMBD News has reached out to Dist. 709 Superintendent Jeff Hill for comment, but district spokespeople said there would be no immediate further official comment on the matter.
