WEST PEORIA, Ill. — A Peoria man has been arrested for theft after Peoria County Deputies found $20,000 worth of construction equipment in his vehicle Saturday night.
The equipment had been stolen from a construction site at Raber Packing Company.
Fire destroyed Raber’s old facility in 2018. A new building is under construction on Farmington Road.
A Sheriff’s deputy was called to the site around 7:30 p.m. Saturday by a witness who noticed a man putting something in his car.
A foreman told deputies that three trowels and a saw were removed from the construction site.
The suspect’s vehicle was located at the intersection of Sheridan and Nebraska, where he was trying to hide a power saw behind a building.
The remainder of the construction equipment was later found, according the Peoria County Sheriff’s Office.
