PEORIA,Ill. — Peoria firefighters were called around 2 p.m. Sunday to the 4000 block of Patricia on reports of a fire.
Upon arrival, heavy smoke and fire was seen coming from an attached garage.
Fire Battalion Chief Rick Morgan said the fire was mostly contained to the garage, but the home sustained significant smoke damage.
No one was inside the home at the time of the fire.
One firefighter did suffer a small laceration to the chin while on duty.
The Red Cross was called to assist three residents of the home.
A Fire Investigator said the cause of the blaze was discarded embers from a fire pit.
