SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health said Saturday a man in his 90s in Peoria County has passed away from COVID-19, making it the second COVID-related death since Thursday to take place in Peoria County, and the fourth this week in the tri-county.
IDPH did not say whether the man was a Peoria County resident, in long-term care, or had underlying health conditions.
His death was one of 22 deaths reported between Friday and Saturday to IDPH. There were 2,121 new cases during that time.
The state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate sat at 3.7%. 56,594 testing specimens were taken over the reporting period.
