PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria Rivermen learned Sunday of the passing of a former player.
Former Defenseman Tyler Amburgey, 29, a native of Rowlett, TX, enjoyed a successful career in the USHL, most notably with the Dubuque Fighting Saints where he captured a Clark Cup with the team in 2010-11.
Amburgey play 34 games with the Rivermen in the club’s inaugural SPHL season in 2013-14, then returned to the team for 18 more games the following season.
Before his passing, Amburgey most recently coached with the Dallas Stars Elite Hockey Club 18U team.
Amburgey is survived by his wife Aimee and daughter Rylee.
