SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — COVID-19 cases throughout Illinois rose back above 2,000 as the state broke its own record between Thursday and Friday for the most tests ever conducted in one 24-hour period.
The Illinois Department of Public Health said 2,208 people received positive test results during that time, while labs across the state took in 51,736 specimens.
The state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate sat at 4.3%.
1,256 hospital beds throughout the state were taken up as of Thursday night by COVID-19 patients. 351 of those patients were intensive care-level.
121 ventilators were in use by patients with the virus.
