PEORIA, Ill. – Thursday brought a COVID-19-related death and another case count in the triple-digits to the tri-county.
The death was a Peoria County long-term care facility resident in his 80s. The man’s death from the virus was Peoria County’s 36th and the area’s 48th.
Peoria, Woodford, and Tazewell reported a combined 108 new cases.
Tazewell had the most, 55, with Peoria recording 43 and Woodford, 10.
To date, the tri-county area has seen a total of 3,133 COVID-19 cases.
“That is a 593 case increase from last week,” PCCHD Adminstrator Monica Hendrickson.
Peoria County has a total of 2,059 cases, Tazewell 855, and Woodford County 219 cases.
Hendrickson said the tri-county’s average new cases per day currently sits at 85.
“That’s an increase by 16 by from this time last week. Likewise, Peoria County has averaged 44 new cases each day, which is five more than last week,” Hendrickson said.
52 people are in area hospitals with the virus.
14 of them (13 confirmed cases, one possible case) were in intensive care units. All others were not at ICU-levels.
