PEORIA, Ill. — A female Peoria County resident in her 80s has passed away from complications related to COVID-19, the area’s latest casualty from coronavirus.
The Peoria City/County Health Department said the woman did not reside in a long-term care facility.
Her death brought the county’s total to 35. Peoria, Woodford, and Tazewell have combined for 47 COVID-related deaths.
The tri-county also combined for 91 new cases, bringing the total since the start of the pandemic to 3,025. Peoria County surpassed the 2,000-case mark, with 51 new cases over the 24-hour reporting period.
Tazewell reported 35 new cases, giving it an even 800 since March, while Woodford saw five new cases.
48 people were in area hospitals with the virus, a significant decrease from Tuesday’s 62. Of the 48, 15 were intensive care-level, while the other 33 were non-ICU.
