PEORIA, Ill. — A Peoria County long-term care facility resident in her 90s succumbed to coronavirus between Monday and Tuesday.
Her death brought the area’s COVID death total to 44. Peoria County has had 33 deaths from the virus, while Tazewell has had eight, and Woodford has had three.
The Peoria City/County Health Department reported 92 new cases and the recovery rate dropped almost two points, to just above 62%.
One key metric that improved was the amount of hospitalizations, as 48 area hospital beds were being used to treat COVID patients. That was down from Monday’s 52.
14 of Tuesday’s hospitalizations were of the intensive care variety. The other 34 were non-ICU.
The tri-county, which is part of the Illinois Department of Public Health’s greater Region Two designated area, was out of warning level-status as of Tuesday in both rolling seven-day positivity test average and rolling seven-day hospital admissions rate.
