PEORIA, Ill. — While Friday’s tri-county COVID-19 case count came back lower than Thursday’s count, it also came with a caveat.
The Peoria City/County Health Department reported 58 new cases, lower than the 69 reported 24 hours prior.
Earlier in the day, however, the Illinois Department of Public Health issued a health advisory for Tazewell County.
This was, according to the Tazewell County Health Department, because of increases in two key metrics: cases per 100,000 people, and percentage of emergency department visits by residents of the county for COVID and COVID-like cases.
To that end, Tazewell accounted for the plurality of the new cases — exactly 50% — with 29.
12 of the county’s 206 active cases were in area hospitals.
Peoria reported 19 new cases. 28 of Peoria’s 479 active cases were hospitalized, while 419 were in home isolation.
Woodford reported ten new cases.
As an area, the recovery rate stood at just a notch below 65%, home isolation was at 31%, and hospitalization just missed the 2% mark.
