PEORIA, Ill. — A day after COVID-19 case count and hospitalizations seemed to be trending downward, the Peoria City/County Health Department reported Wednesday significant upticks in both areas.
Peoria, Woodford, and Tazewell Counties combined for an increase of 127 coronavirus cases, while seven more hospital beds were being occupied for COVID or suspected COVID cases, from 42 to 49.
11 of those cases were in intensive care units, while 38 were considered non-ICU.
It wasn’t all bad news, however, as the recovery rate improved to 64%, the home isolation percentage went down to 32, and the hospitalization rate dipped back to below 2%.
955 of Peoria County’s 1,432 cases have recovered. 423 were at home and recovering, while 22 were in hospitals.
As a tri-county, there have been 1,991 cases since testing began.
