PEORIA, Ill. — After a three-day period from Saturday to Monday that saw an average of 51 new cases of COVID-19 per day, Tuesday brought a lower total to the tri-county.
The Peoria City/County Health Department reported 37 new cases.
Peoria accounted for 15 of those cases, Tazewell accounted for 14, and Woodford reported eight.
There were no new deaths to report.
Case count wasn’t the only encouraging trend, however, as three fewer people were occupying area hospitals with the virus than had been doing so on Monday, a decrease from 45 to 42.
The area’s recovery rate took an upward trajectory, as well, an improvement to 60% from 58%.
Home isolation of current cases fell just below 35%, while hospitalizations sat at an even 2%.
838 of Peoria County’s 1,352 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic had recovered.
226 of Tazewell’s 390 had made full recoveries.
The Illinois Department of Public Health kept Region 2 on a warning level for its rolling seven-day average of positivity rate. Eight days out of the last two weeks has the region seen an increase.
