PEORIA, Ill. — COVID-19 numbers are not trending the way area leaders would like them to trend, as the Peoria City/County Health Department on Friday reported 90 new tri-county cases.
Two metrics — the region’s rolling seven-day positivity rate and seven-day hospitalization rate — will determine on Monday whether the area stays in phase four of Restore Illinois or is bumped back to phase three.
While the health department doesn’t report a positivity percentage, Friday did not offer much hope in the hospitalization department, as area medical facilities admitted eight more people than there were on Thursday, an increase from 41 to 49.
15 of those cases were in intensive care, while the other 34 were considered non-ICU in severity.
Of the new positive cases, Peoria County accounted for the biggest batch, with 74.
Tazewell reported 13 new cases, while Woodford had three.
As active cases grew, the area’s recovery rate continued to drop, standing at just about 62%.
33.5% of patients were in home isolation.
