PEORIA, Ill. — Area hospital bed usage for COVID-19 has gone up to 35, according to numbers released Wednesday by the Peoria City/County Health Department.
11 confirmed cases and one possible case were in intensive care units, while 23 cases deemed not severe enough to need intensive care were also in hospital beds.
On a more encouraging note, overall recovery rate went up another percentage point, to 67.5%. 27.7% of cases were recovering at home, while 2% needed hospitalization.
728 of Peoria County’s 1,101 cases have made recoveries. 320 were in home isolation, and 22 were in recovering in hospitals.
208 out of a possible 301 Tazewell cases have recovered. 78 were in home isolation and seven were in hospitals.
Woodford County reported three new cases, for a total of 80 since the start of the pandemic.
The health department announced early Wednesday the region was issued a code orange by the Illinois Department of Public Health because the area has seen seven straight days of increases of the positivity rate.
