UPDATED 2:44 p.m.
PEORIA, Ill. — There are no injuries reported in the wake of yet another fire in Peoria.
Peoria Fire Battalion Chief Michael Hughes says crews were called to the 1800 block of Kettelle Street, near Kettelle and Blaine, a little after noon on Tuesday.
When firefighters arrived, Hughes said they could see smoke floating above the roof of the home.
The fire is believed to have sparked in an attic area of the home, suggesting the cause could have been electrical in nature. That cause has since been confirmed.
Two people were inside the home at the time of the fire, but Hughes says they left safely before firefighters arrived. The American Red Cross is being called to help relocate that fire victims.
Tuesday’s fire marks at least five such incidents in just the past several days.
