PEORIA, Ill. — Two local COVID-19 metrics trended in the right direction from Tuesday to Wednesday.
First, tri-county hospitalizations dropped to 29 from 31. Six people were in intensive care unit beds, while 23 were non-ICU cases.
Second, the area’s recovery rate jumped up four points, to 72%, while the home isolation rate dropped to 22% and the hospitalization rate was down to below 2%.
Peoria County reported 33 new cases. 639 of Peoria County’s 884 confirmed cases since the start of the pandemic have recovered.
200 were isolating at home, and 15 were hospitalized.
22 of Peoria County’s cases in recovery are county jail inmates, according to Sheriff Brian Asbell.
Asbell said around 180 detainees were still waiting on test results or waiting to be tested at all, and 13 employees were in quarantine because they tested positive, were awaiting results, or because they were exposed to the virus.
Of Tazewell’s 239 confirmed cases, nine were reported between Tuesday and Wednesday. 171 have recovered, 55 were in home isolation, and five were hospitalized.
Woodford reported two new cases since Tuesday, bringing its total to 68. It does not break its numbers down into recoveries, home isolation, and hospitalization.
There were no new deaths in any of the three counties.
