SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — A COVID-19 outbreak at one mental health facility and at one correctional facility have contributed to the state’s latest case count.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported on Tuesday the state had 955 new cases and 23 new deaths.
Illinois Department of Juvenile Justice’s IYC St. Charles location reported 16 cases among staff and three among inmates.
Chester Mental Health Center in Randolph County said 27 staff and five residents came down with the virus.
Lab testing seems to have slowed down, with another day of under 30,000 — 29,745, to be exact — specimens taken during the 24-hour reporting period.
The state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate sat at 3.1%.
