PEORIA, Ill. — Backpack Peoria will look a little different this year.
Dream Center Peoria will hold their annual Backpack Peoria event for students and their families this Saturday, July 25.
The event will provide 2,000 backpacks stuffed with school supplies to help students start the year off right.
Due to COVID-19, the Dream Center’s Andy King said they’ve had to make some changes.
“We’re going to be doing a drive thru version that is going to be in the UnityPoint parking lot directly across the street from the the Dream Center,” King said.
King said there will also be a walk up option for families in the Dream Center Peoria parking lot from 9-noon.
“We’ll have the bags ready, uniform cards will be ready. We’ll even have hand sanitizer and face masks and things like that in the bags that the Peoria School District provided,” King said.
The OSF St. Francis “Care-A-Van” will do free school physicals for those in need.
The first 500 students, in grades K-8, will have an opportunity to receive a $10 gift card to Sam Harris for school uniforms.
