SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — With the mini-surge in COVID-19 cases Illinois has experienced from Jul. 5-11, the state’s rolling seven-day positivity rate has gone up to an even 3%.
One week ago, that number was at 2.6%.
The Illinois Department of Public Health reported 954 new positive tests between Saturday and Sunday.
This broke a three-day streak of 1,000-plus cases, after Thursday and Friday saw four-digit case counts and almost 1,200 were reported Saturday.
IDPH also reported 20 new deaths.
1,342 Illinoisans were in hospitals statewide with coronavirus, with 311 in intensive care units and 127 needing ventilators.
Since the start of the pandemic, 153,916 tests out of a possible 1,982,982 have come back positive.
