PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria firefighters were called around 2:15 a.m. Saturday to an auto repair shop in the area of W. Beverly Court and Knoxville Avenue on reports of a fire.
First crews on the scene reported heavy smoke coming from the building.
Battalion Chief Scott Strum said the entry door was boarded-up and crews had to force entry. Once inside, they encountered heavy fire.
Firefighters had the fire under control in less than 10 minutes.
A search found no one inside the building.
Crews were called to the business four hours earlier for a small fire outside the business.
An investigator said both fires were intentionally set.
Damage was estimated at $130,000.
