PEORIA, Ill. — It was a nice two month break from the more frequent reports of shooting incidents in Peoria, but in just the past three days, we’ve seen two shootings resulting in injury.
The latest happened Friday when Peoria Police say they found a victim with gunshot wounds near the city’s Lincoln library branch on the south side.
PPD Public Information Officer Semone Roth says the adult male victim had been shot and dropped off where officers found him.
The man was rushed to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
The investigation continues into this latest shooting.
On Wednesday night, police responded to several shooting incidents on the south side, ultimately finding a woman shot in the leg near two bullet riddled vehicles.
Details included in a PPD news release at the time suggested there may have been some kind of ongoing armed skirmish that night, but complete details about the circumstances of the Wednesday shooting incidents remain unknown.
There is no information thus far to suggest Friday’s shooting incident may be linked to the reports from Wednesday.
Earlier this month, Peoria Police Chief Eric Echavarria shared more encouraging news about how shooting incidents had dropped dramatically by 75 percent year-over-year in January and February.
