PEORIA, Ill. — A little over a week after rolling out their blueprint for how instruction in a COVID world will look, Peoria Public Schools have adjusted it.
Students in groups “A” and “B” will now alternate in-person learning on Fridays. No instruction had previously been scheduled to take place on Fridays.
Group “A,” the group who will attend in person on Mondays and Wednesdays, will attend in person on Fridays during odd weeks, starting with week one.
Group “B,” Tuesday and Thursday in-person group, will attend in person on even-numbered weeks, starting in week two.
“The goal is always to expand and provide more in-person instruction,” said Dr. Sharon Desmoulin-Kherat, Superintendent.
“I suspect as the guidance from the Illinois State Board of Education continues to evolve throughout the summer, we, as a district, will continue to be dynamic in updating our return-to-school plan, primarily with the focus of increasing in-person instruction.
“The goal is to try and do it everyday, but we have to comply with federal, state, and local CDC and IDPH guidelines.”
The group of students not attending in person on a given Friday will be assigned by instructors to an off-campus independent learning center.
