SMITHVILLE, Ill. — A Peoria County Deputy suffered head injuries after being involved in a single-vehicle crash on Saturday night.
Peoria County Sheriff Brian Asbell said the accident happened around 10 p.m. Saturday when the officer responded to an emergency call on Smithville Road.
“This is a construction area where they’re doing some bridge work. He came upon the construction site and ended up going down an embankment,” Asbell said.
The deputy was taken to a local hospital for treatment.
“He did receive some head injuries. Fortunately, they’re minor,” Asbell said.
The deputy was later released from the hospital.
