SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — Illinois’s unemployment rate dropped an even two percentage points from April to May, 17.2% to 15.2%.
Thursday’s report from the Illinois Department of Employment Security showed 62,000 non-farm jobs were added over the month.
Leisure and Hospitality accounted for the largest jobs gain, with 30,100 added, while Government had a net loss of 18,300.
The rolling total of jobs lost for the year stood at 737,900.
The 15.2% statewide number was higher than the national rate of 13.3%.
