SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Illinois Department of Public Health reported Tuesday an increase of 623 cases of COVID-19.
Monday was the first day since the end of March that less than 500 cases were reported.
The number of deaths reported also increased Tuesday to 72, bringing the state’s total to 6,398.
Statewide, 133,639 total cases have been reported. The seven day positivity rate remains at 3%.
The IDPH reported 26 men incarcerated at the East Moline Correctional Center tested positive for the virus, and that all of the men are isolated and being monitored.
Three of the staff also tested positive for COVID-19, one has recovered.
All of the individuals were traced to the same living unit.
