PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police and Advanced Medical Transport were dispatched to the area of Spring and Jefferson for a crash involving a Peoria Police SUV.
Witness information gathered at the scene indicated that a car driven by 36-year-old Joe “Jason” Henigan was traveling eastbound Spring when he collided with the police SUV.
Henigan was taken to OSF Saint Francis Medical Center with life threatening injuries, according to Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood.
Despite treatment and critical care, Henigan was pronounced deceased Monday, June 8 at 5:28 p.m.
Harwood said the cause of death is blunt force injuries.
There will not be an autopsy. A toxicology report is pending.
