EAST PEORIA, Ill. — East Peoria’s 9th annual Farmer’s Market season begins on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
The “Fresh Friday” event at the Levee District will be every Friday through September 25th, according to coordinator Theresa Unzicker.
“Everybody looks forward to it, we have so much local talent. This is good that we get that out there,” Unzicker said.
There will be fresh meat, eggs, vegetables, flowers, baked goods, hemp items, dog treats, jewelry, alpaca wool items, and more.
Precautions will be put in place, such as a hand sanitizing station and signs to help direct social distancing. Masks will be recommended.
“We would like for you to wear a face mask, but we are not going to enforce it,” Unzicker said.
“And, also we’re giving out free little bottles of hand sanitizer that Alwan’s Pharmacy will be there to hand out.”
For payment, credit and debit cards are encouraged, but those attending can still use cash.
Customers can not touch the products, but rather point to the items they want and the vendor will bag the items.
Unzicker said there will be live entertainment every week.
“And it is local,” Unzicker said.
This Friday, June 4th, the Farmer’s Market will have a mobile sensory museum, That Kid Place.
“That is for special needs kids, autistic kids, any kid can come in. But, it is special made for them,” Unzicker said.
