PEORIA, Ill. — No one knows when or if the community-based COVID-19 testing site at Peoria Civic Center will reopen.
“Illinois Emergency Management Agency closed [the ten sites in the state] due to civil unrest,” said Dr. Gregg Stoner, Chief Medical Officer of Heartland Health Services and Medical Director of Peoria City/County Health Department.
“There’s no reopening date that’s been announced.”
Peoria Count saw an increase of 24 new positive COVID-19 cases, for a total of 265 since the pandemic began.
There were two new deaths in Peoria County, both of which occurred at University Rehab. One of the deceased was a male in his 80s; the other, a male in his 90s.
At least 15 of the 24 new cases were related to the ongoing outbreak at University Rehab, while five are related to the outbreak at Generations at Peoria. 44% of the county’s cases have been linked to congregate living situations.
Peoria County now has 11 deaths.
Tazewell County reported 75 positive cases, up one from Monday. While Woodford remained at 22 positive cases.
The count of confirmed cases in area ICUs was at three.
