PEORIA, Ill. — Peoria Police have reportedly taken a man into custody following an hours long standoff in the West Bluff neighborhood late Tuesday.
Initial reports about the police response were confirmed by the Peoria Police Department shortly after 5 p.m., suggesting a potentially armed subject had barricaded himself inside a home in the 2100 block of N Machin Ave.
Officers were dispatched to the scene at approximately 3:08 p.m. for a disturbance call involving a female being assaulted by a male.
The victim was taken to a local hospital by AMT with non-life-threatening injuries.
Subsequent updates posted to PPD’s Facebook page indicated a negotiation that continued for more than two and a half hours.
Officers were advising the public to avoid the area of N Machin Ave. near West Brons Ave. and North Gale Ave as the negotiations continued.
Finally, with an update posted to Facebook at 7:47 p.m., Peoria Police announced that 46-year-old Daniel H. Kolep had been taken into custody peacefully.
Kolep was arrested for Aggravated Domestic Battery and Unlawful Restraint. He was also taken to a local hospital for medical treatment following the incident.

PEORIA, Ill. – Peoria Police remain at the scene Tuesday of a standoff at a home in Peoria’s West Bluff.
Police have been on scene in the 2100 block of North Machin, west of Sheridan Road, for the last several hours, with a police department SWAT team being used.
Police say a subject may have a weapon and and is holed up inside a home.
Streets in the area from Broadway to Bronz have been blocked, and police are urging everyone to avoid the area.
