PEORIA, Ill. — In a stark showing of the impact of COVID-19, the Peoria Metro area was more than four times as jobless in April 2020 as it was in April 2019.
Unemployment statistics releaed Friday show a change from 4.1% to 17.8%.
There has been a decrease of 170,700 nonfarm jobs to 140,200.
Predictably, numbers were drastically down in all regions of the state.
The Carbondale-Marion Metropolitan Area also experienced a 13.7% change, while Elgin experienced a 12.7% decline.
Rockford saw the sharpest decrease, at 17.9%.
