PEORIA, Ill. — The Peoria-Tazewell-Woodford tri-county went up Friday to 228 total cases of COVID-19.
Peoria reported 153 confirmed cases, Tazewell reported 60, and Woodford remained at 15.
The death count also remained at 10.
75% of tri-county cases since the beginning of the pandemic were considered to be recovered, 16% were in home isolation, and 4% were hospitalized.
13 area ICU beds were in use for COVID-19, with three suspected cases and 10 confirmed cases.
Peoria City/County Health Department Administrator Monica Hendrickson said she and her area colleagues who put together the Restore Heart of Illinois plan were still awaiting feedback from Gov. J.B. Pritzker and the Illinois Department of Public Health.
Peoria City Manager Patrick Urich said that feedback is important.
“In order for us to fully implement any of the plans and walk through this and within the Heart of Illinois implementation plan, it’s taking us some time to put together the steps, what’s the guidance, what’s the protocols for business,” he said.
“We’re still waiting to hear back from the Governor’s Office and IDPH to see what just exactly what they think of that, how it’s going to work, and how we can operate within that together.”
Urich said officials want to make sure they do not jeopardize any business’s state license.
“So, we’re still working through this to try and make sure that we’re progressing ahead, but doing so in a manner that’s going to make sure that we’re doing it safely and responsibly,” Urich said.
