CHICAGO – Governor J.B. Pritzker is urging Illinois lawmakers to reconvene and address financial concerns caused by the pandemic.
The governor says it’s time for the General Assembly to head back to Springfield, as the legislature has work to do to provide coronavirus relief.
“The Legislature must convene so that we can begin to put our financial and economic house back in order, even as we battle this terrible virus,” Pritzker said. “The General Assembly needs to pass a comprehensive plan to support families, small businesses and small towns.”
Pritzker can order lawmakers back for a special session but has not done so yet.
The legislature has not convened since early march.
